ZARB-E-ZOORKHANEH - ضرب زورخانه

Zurkhaneh is the traditional gymnasium and calisthenic movements performed by ten to twenty men, each wielding sports instruments symbolizing ancient weapons. This was the sports of ancient heroes.

The Zarb-e-Zoorkhaneh is the big Zarb (Tonbak) instrument made of clay which is played to accompany the sports. It is much bigger than the wooden tonbak and is made of clay and also played with a big bell as well to accent the drum patterns.
